Our History
In early 2000, President, Ken Newton and his wife Judy Newton took to the committee the idea of starting Netball at North Pine United Soccer Club.
This was a massive step for the committee to consider, however after the pitch from Judy and Ken, the committee approved the concept and North Pine Netball was born.
To make this dream become a reality, Judy and her daughters Melissa and Suzanne walked the streets of Petrie, Kallangur and Dakabin delivering pamphlets to introduce the new Netball Club.
In their first year, North Pine Netball was able to form three teams and joined the Pine Rivers Netball Association. Next, they needed uniforms, so Judy designed the very first uniform.
There were no Netball facilities at the club, so the teams trained at a court behind the Petrie Police Station.
During their first year, the teams made it into the finals.
The club knew Netball was here to stay at North Pine and the committee through Treasurer Graham Timms applied for a grant for Netball Courts at the North Pine grounds (Bob Brock Park). The club was successful in obtaining the grant and two courts were built. North Pine Netball continued to grow offering teams from six years to senior women. During this time North Pine Netball achieved successes with teams competing in high divisions and participating in many finals.
Over this time the netball uniform continued to evolve to suit the needs of the players. Success for the players too, making the Pine Rivers Netball Association Representative teams. Great clubs are built on wonderful volunteers, and we thank the past committees for having the vision to create this great club.
In 2020 North Pine Netball Club Inc was formed.
Our present committee, players, coaches, umpires, and parents will continue to represent
this club with pride. We Honour the Past and take ownership for the Future.
